Ananda Yoga for Punta Cana Wellness

The Love For Yoga Chat with Yira Carrasco.

{Ananda Yoga, Punta Cana}

Welcome to our blog series, we will do our best to keep content coming every week. Punta Cana Wellness’s mission is to create a genuine conversation between wellness seekers, travelers, and wellness professionals this week we are having a Love for Yoga chat with Yira Carrasco , Ananda Yoga Punta Cana, founder, and certified teacher.

There are many reasons why people start practicing or better say fall in love with Yoga; in my case, as a fellow dancer, I wanted to find a practice that combined strengths and rhythms, and I discovered that flow and harmony in Yoga. For Yira, it was an invitation that led to love at first sight or let us say breathe :)! And for over 15 yrs, her practice has grown into a community where locals and travelers enjoy her compassionate approach to the Yoga practice.

The “Social Media Yoga” is not “Yoga”

Yira agrees on with many other teachers and practitioners that what we see in Social media Yoga is not YOGA. The pictures and poses are worthy to praise but let’s be honest it takes years and constant practice to achieve those standards. As this DOYOUYOGA article explains” Let’s face it, I too enjoy the beautiful poses and photos as much as the next yogini!

It’s just…where are the pictures of everybody else? Where are the XXL-sized women in bikinis? The men without mega biceps and chest muscles rivaling those of Marvel comic heroes, or the teachers who aren’t actually that flexible because that is not their sole focus”

Yira’s practice slogan is “Everybody and EVERY-BODY can do YOGA! meaning all of us and every type of us can do Yoga in accordance to your body and limitations, taking into consideration that 1 in 5 adults have some type of limitation or disability.

I hope you enjoy our conversation and find answers that will enhance your wellness journey. Here are a few things that we chat about with Yira:

  • What are you looking for in a Yoga Practice
  • A compassionate approach to Yoga
  • How to build a community around Yoga
  • Ananda Yoga services
  • Inclusion and guidance according to your body type in a yoga practice
  • Her journey from the top to the knees and to the floor.

I hope you enjoy our conversation as much I did; there is always something new to learn from each chat and encounter, especially with wellness professionals, I realize today how much I have taken for granted other peoples capabilities to bend or to stretch, I left this conversation with a sense of compassion and enthusiasm towards my practice, I hope you get something out of conversation as well.

Thank you for reading staying with us so far. If you have any questions or would like to chat with Yira, Ananda Yoga visit her profile for more information.
